One of the sciences that has played a pivotal role in building Islamic civilization is history. However, history can play an effective role only if it seeks to discover the truth through scientific methods, but some contemporary historians, with a theological approach, have sought to prove their religious beliefs instead of discovering the truth. Some historians have gone to extremes in using theological data ignoring historical reports and relying solely on theological rules as definitive and final evidence, rather than as evidence. Such approach to history causes the historian to distance himself from scientific and civilization-building historiography and become a theologian. In this article, Munir Ghadhban, Mahmoud Shakir, and Muhammad Sallabi have been selected as historians to study their historiographical methods in applying three theological principles. These three theological principles are: "ijtihad of the companions", "jihad of the companions", and " Preserving the Community". the main research questions can be posed as follows: Have these historians adhered to correct and systematic historical methods when faced with the theological principles of "ijtihad of the companions," "jihad of the companions," and "preserving the Community"? and what were the effects and consequences of this usage? It seems that these historians have not been able to distinguish between history and theology as the duty and method of a historian require. Therefore, methodological and objective frameworks have not been observed in their historiography, and their historiography cannot be considered scientific and structured. نقش تاریخ در ساختن تمدنها قابل انکار نیست. یکی از علومی که در ساختن تمدن اسلامی نقش محوری داشته، تاریخ است، اما تاریخ در صورتی میتواند نقشی مؤثر داشته باشد که با روشهای علمی در پی کشف حقیقت باشد، ولی برخی مورخان معاصر با رویکرد کلامی بهجای کشف حقیقت به دنبال اثبات عقاید دینی خود برآمدهاند. گروهی مورخان در بهره‌گیری از داده‌های کلامی راه افراط در پیش گرفته گزارش‌های تاریخی را کنار زده تنها بر قواعد کلامی بهعنوان حجت قطعی و نهایی و نه بهعنوان شاهد و قرینه تکیه کرده‌اند و هر کجا که گزارش‌های تاریخی با این قواعد سازگار نباشد آن را انکار یا تأویل می‌کنند. چنین رویکردی به تاریخ باعث میشود که مورخ از تاریخنگاری علمی و تمدنساز فاصله بگیرد و به یک متکلم بدل شود. در این جستار منیرمحمد غضبان، محمود شاکر و علیمحمد صلابی انتخاب شده‌اند تا روش تاریخنگاری آنان در بهکارگیری سه قاعده کلامی مورد مطالعه قرار گیرد. این سه قاعده کلامی عبارتند از: «اجتهاد صحابه»، «جهاد صحابه»، و «حفظ جماعت». سؤالات اصلی پژوهش اینگونه قابل طرح است که آیا این مورخان در مواجهه با اصول کلامی «اجتهاد صحابه»، جهاد صحابه» و «حفظ جماعت»، به روش‌های صحیح و قاعده‌مند تاریخنگارانه پایبند بوده‌اند؟ و پیامدهای این بهره‌گیری چه بوده است؟ بهنظر می‌رسد این مورخان نتوانسته‌اند آنچنان که وظیفه و روش یک مورخ ایجاب می‌کند، میان تاریخ و کلام تمایز قائل شوند. از این رو در تاریخنگاری‌شان چهارچوب‌های روشی و عینی رعایت نشده و نمی‌توان تاریخنگاری آنان را علمی و چهارچوبمند قلمداد کرد.
