For someone studying modern Iranian history, it seems that the scholars of the Constitutional movement in Najaf played a significant role in the development of the Iranian Constitutional Revolution, to the extent that their prominent role in various stages of this fateful revolution in Iran's history cannot be overlooked. It is worth mentioning that the sending of various statements, letters, and telegrams by these great scholars, especially during the period of the Minor Despotism (1326-1327 AH), served as a protest against the absolute authoritarian rule of the Qajar family, as well as against foreign loans, the worsening economic situation, the use of violence and cruelty against the peasants, and their defense of the Constitution and the National Assembly. These actions were among the important factors in spreading public participation in the Constitutional movement and in shaking the foundations of the Qajar government. Based on this, the purpose of this article is to examine the role of the correspondences of the scholars of Najaf in the Iranian Constitutional movement and answer the following two questions:
1.Did the correspondences of these scholars of Najaf have an impact on the course of the revolution's developments?
2.What were the most important criticisms these great scholars raised in their letters to the religious faction opposing the Constitution?
3.What was the interaction and relationship between the Najaf scholars and the people who wanted to establish the law, led by Ayatollah Sheikh Fazlullah Nouri?
