Civilizational security, despite its significance in explaining the sustainability and decline of civilizations, has yet to receive a clear theoretical formulation in Islamic thought studies. This study aims to reconstruct a model of civilizational security based on Ibn Khaldūn's thought, addressing the question of how such a model can be reconstructed within his framework. Employing a qualitative approach and utilizing conceptual analysis and theoretical reconstruction, the study draws on data from the Muqaddimah and authoritative commentaries on Ibn Khaldūn's thought. The findings reveal that civilizational security is not articulated as an independent term in his thought, but can be reconstructed through the underlying logic governing civilizational life. This logic is based on a causal chain beginning with 'aṣabiyyah (group solidarity), religion, and the state, and leading—through justice and order—to economic, scientific, and cultural flourishing, and ultimately to civilizational authority and sustainability. The model is reconstructed in two complementary pillars: generative components, including 'aṣabiyyah, cooperation, religion and Sharī'ah, justice, rule of law, awareness, popular participation, the state, economic prosperity, sciences and industries, and defensive power; and disruptive components, including the disintegration of 'aṣabiyyah, oppression, despotism, the state-society gap, extravagance, moral corruption, weak awareness, economic pressure and stagnation, and weak defensive power. The novelty of this research lies in reconstructing the interrelations among these components and formulating them into a conceptual model for explaining civilizational security in Ibn Khaldūn's thought.
