Islamic civilization, as a system grounded in divine values, holds a prominent position in the thoughts of contemporary Muslim thinkers. The present study aims to elucidate the elements of Islamic civilization from the perspectives of Allameh Mohammad-Taqi Ja'fari and Martyr Morteza Motahhari, focusing on three fundamental components: human dignity, sacred rationality, and the development of knowledge and learning. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical method and drawing upon the works and ideas of these two scholars, this research examines their theoretical and civilizational foundations.
The findings indicate that both thinkers view Islamic civilization as transcending mere material progress, defining it instead based on the balanced growth of human material and spiritual dimensions. Within this framework, human dignity, as the foundational axis of Islamic civilization, emphasizes the intrinsic worth of the human being and the necessity of facilitating the grounds for human transcendence. Sacred rationality, by harmonizing reason and revelation, paves the way for intellectual dynamism, *ijtihad* (independent reasoning), and Islamic civilization-building. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of these two thinkers, the development of knowledge and learning leads to civilizational flourishing only when it serves spiritual growth, ethical development, and human perfection. The results demonstrate that, despite methodological differences, the thoughts of Allameh Ja'fari and Martyr Motahhari offer a complementary approach to explaining the theoretical foundations of the modern Islamic civilization, presenting a suitable model for realizing a society built upon human dignity, religious rationality, and scientific progress.
